The University of South Alabama Department of Family Medicine and the Student Health Center is looking to hire a full-time Primary Care faculty member with experience in Sports Medicine to join our program in Mobile, AL. We are searching for a full-time faculty physician that is trained/board certified in primary care with a CAQ (or CAQ eligible) in Sports Medicine. The physician will split time between the Department of Family Medicine (50%) and the Student Health Center (50%). The physician will serve as a core member in our Sports Medicine Fellowship which will be starting in 2019 or 2020.
Sports medicine responsibilities will include local mass participation event and game coverage, and teaching while working closely with our sports medicine fellow on the sidelines, as well as in the departmental and Student Health sports medicine clinics. The Fellowship provides support and care to two local high schools as well as The University of South Alabama Division 1 Athletic programs.

General Sports Medicine Faculty (.50 FTE): The faculty member will provide care with an emphasis on general acute, episodic, and chronic medical care, including but not limited to young adult health issues, women's health, musculoskeletal injuries, infectious disease, dermatology, as well as psychosocial and mental health issues in an integrative, evidence-based health model. They physician will work as a key member of a team of other clinical staff, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, LPNs, medical assistants, and athletic trainers. •Faculty member will provide direct teaching for learners regarding musculoskeletal and general family medicine content. •Faculty member will participate in student education in the office, hospital, and other settings. •The faculty member will directly supervise resident and Fellow patient care. •The faculty member will maintain a clinical practice exclusive of his or her supervisory duties. Student Health Physician (.50 FTE): Physician will assess and treat patients, including providing physical examinations, lab and x-ray interpretation, as well as formulating and prescribing treatment and/or making referrals for students. Physician will establish short and long term goals for the clinical operation of the student health center by developing policies, procedures, and programs to address the medical needs of students. Provide acute and chronic medical care to the students of USA as well as the NCAA Division 1 athletes on an appointment and walk-in basis. Promote and provide input into efforts made by the Practice Director to enhance funding of the Student Health Center. Promote and provide input in an effort to maintain AAAHC accreditation.
