RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a full-time experienced Primary Care Sports Medicine (PCSM) physician to become the Director of Sports Medicine in Livingston, NJ. Primarily based at the Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center, this position includes both clinical and administrative responsibilities overseeing a team of athletic trainers, physical therapists, and exercise physiologists for specific sports service lines and will have direct overlap with the Matthew J. Morahan III Health Assessment Center for Athletes providing education, evaluation, and assessment of sports injury, and sports related cardiac and concussion screenings. This provider will be involved in cutting edge concussion management and care for acute brain injury and will have direct overlap and involvement with the department of orthopedics. More about this role: Successful candidates must be:
Board certified in both Primary Care and Sports Medicine(PCSM)
Licensed in NJ or eligible for NJ licensure
Fellowship trained with prior experience in Sports Medicine
Training and experience in diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound as well as diagnostic and therapeutic musculoskeletal procedures (i.e. steroid injections).
Personable, outgoing and eager to build a strong program and work as part of a goal oriented team.
Experienced in athletic medical management at the primary school, secondary school, NCAA and/ or professional level.
Assist with community outreach to athletic trainers (ATC’s), coaches, and teams.
Provide Non-operative care for acute musculoskeletal injuries.
Provide and consult on standing orders for athletic trainers.
Provide cutting edge concussion care for acute brain injury with fully established concussion center.
Provide game coverage and medical care for athletics through primary, secondary, and NCAA school based relationships potentially requiring both travel and sideline coverage.
Support team and district physician needs including annual sports physicals for athletes.
Consult on sports performance, injury prevention, sports nutrition.
Support academic enhancement through mentoring of fellows and/or residency programs as well as research initiatives related to the field of Sports Medicine and Concussion.
